East Boston residents vote against a proposal to build a gambling casino at Suffolk Downs.

After a campaign by a local group called “No Eastie Casino,” residents vote against a referendum question, which appears on the ballot only in their neighborhood, by a margin of 4,283 to 3,354 or 56.1% to 43.9%.
